Still thinking about your lovely post a few weeks letter. I love how you shared about your experience in Ukraine and for the tender way you engaged with the stories and recipes. Can’t wait to try making some from the cookbook!! Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Mamushka has been on my wishlist for a while; it's so pretty and I'm a tiny bit obsessed with cookbooks that have an element of family history to them. I liked reading about your experience with it :)
I am super impressed that you made 15 things from Mamushka! Also, I love the BBC's Pride and Prejudice. My teenager and I have watched it three times together.
Aww thanks, Jenna! There were so many more things I wanted to make. Hopefully someday. ;) And would you believe this was only my second time rewatching it? The only other time I saw it was 20 years ago 🫣 I just adore that you've watched it three times already with your teenager!
Thank you so much for including me in your post, Amanda!! ❤️ I've been meaning to check out "Mamushka", this might be the push to finally get myself to the library and do it!
I continue to love your writings and am totally here for the whole series you are working on. :) Also I hope you get the chance to grab that book from the library!! It's been such a bright spot this past month for me.
Your first post inspired me to purchase one of Ella Risbridgers cookbooks. There’s something so special about the part memoir part cookbook. I devoured it so the Mamuska rec comes at the perfect time :) drooling over the pillowy garlic bread.
Ohhhhh I LOVE this!!! Please let me know what you think of Mamushka if you are able to snag a copy. For real, the pillowy garlic bread is incredible. 😍
Thanks for sharing! SMALL THING LIKE THESE stopped me in my tracks when I read it last year, and I've been debating whether or not I'll watch the movie . . .
Whew, best description. Totally stopped me in my tracks, too. I want you to form your own opinion of the movie, but it definitely felt like a different flavor than the book.
I also check out way too many cookbooks from the library! It’s a great way to choose what I’d like to add to my collection. Mamushka is such a gorgeous book that I have not cooked from at all yet. Your post makes me want to change that!
Yes yes yes! Same. I love that I can really get a feel for cookbooks when I borrow them from the library. Let me know if you make anything from Mamushka that you love!
Love your substack, Amanda! What a lovely peek into your kitchen and the way you approach cooking. 💛
Sooooo kind of you!!! Thanks for reading along; I’m so glad to connect with fellow cookbook lovers on here 🤩

😘💛😘 thank you, friend. For teaching me all about Ukraine, cheering me on, and being the best. Can't wait to hear what you make from the cookbook!!
"Too many" ... cookbooks??? I don't understand.

Ooooo yes, there’s a bit of magic with cookbooks that are tied to family history. Totally agree!! Hope you get the chance to grab a copy of Mamushka 😘
