Tara O’Brady’s chocolate chip cookies in Seven Spoons (slightly different from what you can find online) are hands down, the best chocolate chip cookies. I’ve made that olive oil cake from Julia Turshen’s new book probably 8 times. Given it as a gift to several different people. It simple and has a “quiet” flavor which sometimes is very necessary. Also, separately, I am listening to Wolf Hall on Audible. I’ve tried to read the book with my eyes since it came out and always put it back to the shelf as it puts me to sleep. HOWEVER, I’m moving along nicely with the Audible book!
Ginger! I love all of this. 🤩 Esp that you've made the olive oil cake so many times! And I agree wholeheartedly, those cookies by Tara are unmatched. So good. I'm actually writing about a different choc. chip cookie recipe in my Feb newsletter—publishing tomorrow! And I'm glad you found a way forward with Wolf Hall, too!
I also love the WGWW cookbook and her Substack! I will have to try the chicken fajitas and the almond cake (which has been calling my name). I enjoyed her one-pot rice dishes like the mushroom Swiss burger rice and chicken kimchi, both super tasty and easy. And the Caesar salad has been a classic in our house for years…the dressing is everything!
Well I'm totally going to have to make these recipes now. 😊 That Caesar salad sounds amazing. Let me know what you think of the chicken fajitas and almond cake, if you try them out!
Love your idea of cooking through a cookbook each month! Looking forward to following your journey. I just read Living Small last month and enjoyed it, as well. I have Shining Brightly in my TBR pile and am now extra curious about it!
Ha, I always need more coffee! Definitely let me know what you think if you end up reading Brightly Shining. I still feel so conflicted about that one. Really glad to have you here, Megan! 😊
Simon! I've already declared Wolf Hall to be one of my favorite reads EVER. I can't get over the depth of content + insight you give us each week. I will continue to tell everyone about your slow reads!
Thanks Amanda! I appreciate how much time you've spent with WGWW!!!
It's a DELIGHT of a cookbook. Loved spending my month cooking from it. So glad I have it in my library now! :)

Will do! If you’re a Caesar salad fan, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy her recipe- I’ve made it several dozen times!
I loved reading your newsletter Amanda - some of my favourite things, cookbooks, recipe recommendations, great reads and coffee - thankyou!
Hurray! So glad you're here, Judy. We share a love for similar things! 😊

Welcome, really glad you are following along! :)
I LOVE Julia Turshen's work and own three of her cookbooks. Looks like I need to add this one to the list, too!
Totally with you. I just made her "Indecision Chicken" from her Small Victories book last night!
Yes!! She has SO many easy, instant classics that I go back to time and time again.
Stop tempting me to get more cookbooks! I'm trying to cook through the ones I have and do not need to add more. Still ... thanks for your reviews.
Oh, I absolutely get that!! I'm super thankful for our local library...but still I keep adding to my collection 😅
Have had similar success with Julia’s book! Don’t miss the gochujang meatballs.
ohhh, I wondered about those!! Will have to make soon!
I have made them at least 5 times!
Okay, that's the best praise and only rec I need. (Also, just subscribed to your Dinner Plan Substack and LOVE what you are doing!! 🤩)
Aw thank you! Been having so much fun talking to so many cookbook authors!
